What is an allergic reaction?
An allergy is your body’s immune system response to a normally nonthreatening substance, such as dust, mold, or pet dander. This overreaction, or hypersensitivity to normal items (called allergens), is called an allergic reaction. It can produce symptoms that range from a runny nose and sneezing to asthma attacks and anaphylaxis, which can be life-threatening.
